We been experiencing remission of duties by panchayat secretaries and the sarpanchas as the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994 has been thrown to the wind and the rules have been bent when it comes to illegalities.
It is generally believed that panchayats in Goa have brought degradation to greenery. As we have just elected new local self governance bodies to get corruption free and grassroots administration, it will be pertinent to urge the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to clean the corrupt system before the good apples fall in the rotten system.
