The Goa taxi operators feel that app-based taxis will not work in Goa as they will not have enough business. Moreover they feel that they will earn less if they switch over to the aggregators. They also feel they will lose their freedom.
They are partly right insofar as there is not enough business for app-based taxis to work well in all parts of the State. I feel that app-based taxis be operated only in coastal areas. Drivers must have the option to refuse fares to interior areas of Goa or be paid at fixed rates for such trips.
Yes, as app-based taxis drivers, they will have to work hard but increased income will be their reward. And yes, business will grow rapidly and so will tourism.
