Time to teach non-performing politicians a lesson at polls

The ruckus witnessed at the South Goa District Congress office with the induction of former Velim MLA Benjamin D'Silva was in stark contrast with the former BJP MLA Mahadev Naik joining AAP in a calm and sombre manner.

Both of them have taken poll positions ahead of the upcoming elections that made headline news. It however remains to be seen as to who makes it to the podium finish.

The BJP has been at the receiving end of the backlash from all sections of civil society including the legal fraternity for passing the outrageous Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill 2021 which subsequently due to mounting public pressure has been mellowed down by attempting to tinker with its nomenclature.

However, the posturing by the BJP MLAs continues with videos going viral on social media with the migrants offering artis to the two audacious ministers. They have also been depicted in poor light while dancing with the migrants with the intent of wooing them for their votes.

The tiatr fraternity on the other hand is up in arms against the political class with their timely traditional songs and satire to bring awareness to their folks.

It may be recalled that South Goa was in the forefront during the referendum and the freedom struggle as a result of which the present crop of politicians are enjoying the fruits as MLAs and Ministers.

In hindsight the Portuguese were better disciplined to protect our land, culture and traditions than the present rulers who have to be shunted out lock stock and barrel from the Goan landscape.
