Vital civic problems need govt's attention

The government is rushing to push switching over to EV vehicles without considering the end user first. In these difficult financial times, besides incentives for manufacture and purchase, the infrastructure and safety aspects have been neglected. Electrical vehicles are not cheap and maintenance costs of batteries and increasing electrical tariffs are prohibitive. Unless installation of home solar panels are affordable and the charging/ catching fire  problems  perfected and more importantly there is some scheme to take back the petrol/diesel vehicles, the common man will not only suffer but rusting old vehicles will cause enormous problems. Goa needs much more traffic signs at speed breakers and at diversions/junctions to indicate where roads lead to. Besides monsoon problems of blocked drains and flooding, rules and laws on constructions need proper planning and timely enforcement if Goa is not going to land up like hopeless cases of Mumbai and Bengaluru.
