Very often and especially on weekends we see hordes of tourists and locals overrunning the pristine beaches of South Goa, throwing all social distancing norms to the winds and littering the place.
Many instances of petty crimes being committed by elements from outside the State, taking advantage of the holiday crowd have also come to light. Much brouhaha had been created about posting tourist police at the beaches in the aftermath of rapes at Benaulim and Colva but not one officer has been seen on these beaches.
I request the authorities to deploy tourist police personnel at the public beaches to ensure safety and adherence to Covid norms.
