I am writing to express my deep concern about the alarming rise in cybercrime in India, which has not only tarnished our country's reputation but also caused significant financial losses to innocent citizens, particularly the elderly in the US and UK. The recent article published in "The Goan" revealed shocking figures, with Rs 3000 crore involved in crimes committed in India itself. This staggering amount is a clear indication of the growing strength of the criminal base in our country. YouTube videos of scam baits and reports from international news agencies have highlighted the modus operandi of these cybercriminals, who pose as Amazon and Microsoft support staff and in India digital arrests are getting popular with criminals posing as government officers to dupe unsuspecting victims. The fact that these cybercrimes are being perpetrated with such impunity points to a larger malaise -- corruption. I urge the government to take swift and decisive action to tackle this menace. It is imperative that we strengthen our cybersecurity framework, enhance our law enforcement capabilities, and ensure that those involved in these crimes are brought to justice.
