For any state to be called a model state, it simply means that people of the state enjoy the benefits of state-sponsored schemes which help them live a comfortable life, without the worry of tomorrow. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Goa where people have to struggle to make ends meet after being denied the basic amenities of life.
The recent withdrawal of the govt's free drinking water scheme for people consuming less than 16,000 litres a month, the proposed 6% hike in electricity tariffs, record unemployment figures of the youth, 800 teachers’ posts not filled, pathetic condition of Goan roads, record number of road accidents, unaffordable taxi fares, frequent power outages, scarcity of drinking water for days together, are some of the parameters that paint a different picture which go to disqualify Goa from the coveted position of 'model state' ” nothing but a hype by politicians to cover up for their failures.
