Rising demand, failing supply: Goa’s growing water crisis

The Goa government has officially ended its zero bill scheme from May 1, which had been in place since August 2021. Goa is facing water shortage problems due to the increasing population, especially when the projects of villas and apartments are raised in the smallest state. In the coming years, Goa will suffer for a drop of water during the monsoon season if the steps are not taken seriously about extending the dam’s capacity.

Many villas and apartments are taking the water from tankers. If the rivers go on being diverted, then the citizens of Goa will be having a tough time getting drinking water. The zero scheme was brought in Goa to show the people of Goa that, like AAP, the BJP government can provide free water but fails to continue it when Goa is facing a water shortage problem. So, requesting the citizens of Goa not to waste water and report the damaged pipeline to the department.

In an order issued on Friday, South Goa has reportedly prohibited the operation, flying or use of drones or any Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), regardless of size or category. The move comes as a result of the escalating tensions along the border with Pakistan and the heightened threat perception in terms of internal security, critical infrastructure vulnerability and civilian safety.
