There has been a ban on celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries and other such occasions along with a large number of guests since the number of guests should not exceed a predetermined number fixed by the authorities. However, private birthday and anniversary functions are held in the homes with a limited number of guests which include relatives and close friends. One thing that is common to such functions is having a cake with several lit candles placed on it. The person for whom the celebration is being held is expected to blow off the candles as the guests clap and sing. If the person blowing the candles happens to be an asymptomatic carrier of the novel coronavirus, there is every possibility that the virus will be deposited on the cake. When the cake is consumed by the guests, which may include children, they could get infected by the virus even though they are all wearing a mask. As a result of this, the occasion can turn out to be a super-spreader. It would hence be in the fitness of things to do away with the part of the celebration wherein the person blows off the candles that are placed on the cake.
