Capt Viriato Fernandes was elected by South Goans so just any Congress member can’t push for his resignation. Goan voters should decide if Capt should resign or not - not just affected Congress workers. I certainly don’t agree Girish Chodankar should have been given the president's post mainly because he has failed numerous times before to get Congress to power. If at all there was a change, should have been a new/younger face with proven/good capabilities. I also agree that Indian National Congress top leadership knowingly/unknowingly is playing into the hands of BJP Goa. And I will say that success of BJP is due to incompetence and myopic thinking of the Congress top leadership. The success of Capt at LS Elections was due to the efforts of hard working Congress members but more of a people’s movement cutting across caste/creed/religion; where people put in a lot of effort. I request affected Congress workers to look at other ways to pressurize Congress top leadership to change course and not score a short sighted self-goal by asking Capt Viriato to resign. Asking for a better performing MP to resign will only play into the hands of BJP.
