All has not gone well with the Congress in Goa after the recently concluded budget session and the contradictory stand taken by a senior Congress MLA in support of the much-opposed Goa Agriculture Land Bill that has irked the opposition parties. It is now reported that two more Congress MLAs are expected to cross over to the BJP shortly -- a move which will leave the Congress with only a solitary MLA and a step closer to a Congress-mukt Goa and the fulfillment of the BJP's much cherished slogan of a 'Congress mukt Bharat'. The situation in Goa might well have been different had the Congress not delayed in staking its claim of forming the govt in 2017 with a comfortable majority. The failure to capitalise on the situation spelt the doom for the party and the beginning of its inexorable downfall, triggered by a series of defections to the BJP that have brought the party to its present pathetic state and virtual extinction. A very sad state of affairs indeed, caused by infighting and inflated egos.
