An Independent MLA recently accused a few from the ruling dispensation for alledgly having close links with the drug mafia operating in the coastal belts of Goa and also with rave-party organisers who were arrested in raids at Arpora and found in possession of various types of drugs.
The whole world knows that rave parties and drug dealings have been going on for the last so many years with full backing of the powers be it. How can one expect liberation of tiny Goa from such menace?
Today, the drugs trade is not just inter-connected with tourism but has slowly turned into a big money making business industry not just for our politicians but also for some local youth in Goa.
I, therefore, personally feel that these nefarious activities will never see the end of the day as long as there is backing of our own elected representatives to the rogues of the trade. The drug culture in Goa is here to stay.
