Illegal laterite extraction business in Pissurlempanchayat area of Sattaritaluka has been rampant over the last few months. However, after it became clear that the government system was not taking action as expected, it has now come to light that businessmen have started extraction business near a natural nullah. This does not rule out the possibility of serious consequences in the future due to the invasion of natural diversity by traders.
HanumantParab, a member of the Panchayat Biodiversity Committee and a social activist, said he would lodge a complaint in this regard and demanded an end to the illegal extraction business in the area.
It is learned that a large number of illegal laterite businesses are operating in PissurlemPanchayat areas. As a result, the businessmen have now shifted their extraction to the natural nullah.
The important thing is that most of the people in the area own this government land and the business has started in the natural stream at the cemetery site.
In the rainy season, water is expected to flow through the natural nullah. There is no denying the possibility of serious consequences in the future if this nullah is destroyed.
The panchayat has constituted a Biodiversity Committee to conserve and protect the diversity in the area. HanumantParab, a member of the committee has clarified that he will complain in this regard. Demands for action in this regard have also being ignored. Recently they have shifted their extraction activity to the nullah in this area.
Parab has expressed fears that due to this new crisis through Chirekhani, the remaining biodiversity in the area will once again be permanently wiped out through this business.
