ECI will have to ensure Covid safety at elections

So, it’s election time once again with five states all set to go to polls early next year. The pandemic, however, is far from over. Of course, the world cannot stay still, and more importantly, elections cannot wait. That said, the Election Commission has a huge task ahead of it. It ought to take lessons from the recent elections when all precautions were thrown to the wind and huge rallies that went unmonitored led to the second wave of Covid in some states. The coronavirus will still be around and so the Election commission must ensure all Covid guidelines are adhered to, even frame additional ones to ensure order. Public health is at stake. Let not the coronavirus have the last laugh.

Stray cattle tend to be a serious problem in the state. Cattle occupying the road are dangerous for innocent travellers and pedestrians alike. At the village of Curti in Ponda, cattle are noticed squatted on the road at different spots. The situation turns serious for two-wheeler riders in particular.
