At the village of Curti in Ponda, cattle are noticed squatted on the road at different spots. The situation turns serious for two-wheeler riders in particular. Mishaps are likely to occur in the process thereby leading to adverse consequences for vehicle riders. Most of the village panchayats in the state have yet put in place cattle pounds to accommodate the impounded animals. The Directorate of Panchayat needs to take a firm step in this direction and instruct the village panchayats in the state to build cattle pounds on a priority basis. Panchayats failing to implement this basic requirement should be taken to task without any discrimination. Travellers and pedestrians must be assured safety at all costs.
