Extend the validity of PUC certificates

 

TheCentral Government has reportedly extended the validity of documents likedriving licenses, permits and registration that have expired since February 1as valid till December 31 due to the pandemic. This is a step in the rightdirection since the state transport offices were closed during the lockdown,citizens were facing difficulties to renew various documents related to MotorVehicles Act, 1988. This includes documents like vehicle fitness certificate,permits of all types, driving licenses and registration of other documents.Initially, the validity of the document that might have expired after February1, 2020, was extended to June 30. The validity was further extended toSeptember 30. With the prevailing pandemic, the enforcement authorities havereportedly been advised to extend the validity till December 31, 2020.Hopefully, this validity may also include Pollution Under Control (PUC)certificate as well as the validity of the 'learning license’ as it may bedifficult to give a driving test during the pandemic in order to get a fulldriving license.
