Whenthe entire State and the country were under lockdown due to the Covid-19pandemic, the enemies of the environment were on the prowl. Goa's lungs are indanger. Taking advantage of the pandemic and the lockdown, an entire forestcover near Sangodd, a few kilometres from Goa border at Mollem, was cleared fora project.
When everyone came to know about this, objections were raised.Environmentalists, scientists and other experts are seething with hunger andhave demanded accountability from the government.
When people visited Sangodd, they saw a big number of trees mercilessly felled. People contend the projectof double-tracking will spoil the beauty of Dudhsagar waterfalls at Collem, which is one of the best tourist spots in Goa. It is not only theresponsibility of the people of Collem to raise their voice to save this partof the biodiversity, but of every Goan.
