If the huge blast was not enough, Beirut was in the news again, this time because of a huge fire in its port. Smoke could be seen billowing over the city’s skyline. The blaze broke out where an aid agency had been storing food and cooking oil. Firefighters and military officials spent hours battling the flames. No injuries were reported and the actual cause of the fire is not yet known. After the port blast on August 4, officials were on record to assure the traumatised citizens the situation was under control, but it doesn’t seem so.
