The Goa government in 2004 had ordered the resurvey of the entire State. The talukas where all villages have been notified were Mormugao, Tiswadi, Ponda, and Bardez.
The State spent Rs 7.87 crore for the resurvey carried out by a private company. The physical survey work had been completed in all 12 talukas. So why is the department not issuing resurvey plans to the public?
The reality, however, is that the plans are not entirely accurate and reliable. Is it so? Are there mistakes in the plans? Is that why the government doesn't want to notify them? Are people’s houses not shown under correct survey numbers? Is it a fact that some roads are shown over people’s houses? Is it true that the layout of the structures and roads has not been superimposed properly?
The government should tell the facts to the people and complete the procedure of resurvey of Goan land and start issuing plans to the public. At least the resurvey plans should be made available on the official website for public inspection.
Perhaps some villages have already been covered under the task of land resurvey. How could a public fund of Rs 8 crore be put to extravagance? At least make completed “resurvey” plans of the lands visible on the government website. And why waste Rs 8 crore on a land resurvey? Let the engaged company complete its job and rectify the mistakes in the resurvey task.
The government must issue an order to them immediately. But as of now, the government should open the completed resurveyed land plans for public viewing in the Land Survey offices, and they should also be displayed online and on the official website. The public leaders or representatives should pay attention to this kind of public inconvenience.
