KTC employees strike against contract basis employment

KTC employees of Goa have called for strike for various demands. The strike is called to seek attention of government to temporary drivers and conductors on duty for 2 years on contract basis. The demand is to make them  permanent. Secondly they are demanding restoration of 12% PF of employees . The third demand is to have staff of KTC in EV buses which are on contract basis. The present electric buses on various routes by KTC are running on agreement with third party and same is on contract basis for both transport and maintenance. The present EV buses are driven by some non-KTC drivers who are skilled in the driving of EV buses. The demand from the association is to employ local KTC staff drivers and conductors  in the EV buses. Considering high demand for EV buses on various routes government should consider the demands and settle the same so as to streamline functioning. Also there was a move to take over private buses in KTC and provide better services in the state but same is yet to materialize. Hope the state government intervenes and solves  the issue.
