As one of those Londonkars responsible for the event that regretfully upset the CM, I wish to clarify that the “certain forces “ that he referred to, which came together to protest against the development plans the CM is implementing, against the wishes of the people, are just simple Niz Goenkars that happen to live currently in London. We all feel as strongly about the destruction of Goa as the Goenkars in Goa. They have been shouting so loud in Goa, that we heard them here in London and responded.
I noted that according to your article the CM also urged the people of Goa to wake up and remain alert, which is exactly what all of us, people of Goa, have done. We are awake and alert indeed, that is why we are all protesting against the government’s plans to transform Goa into a coal hub and coal corridor.
I would like to also clarify that last week’s gathering of Goans in a park in London to commiserate with our people in Goa, was just a gesture of
solidarity. It is important to note that we Goenkars in the UK have not started “interfering” yet with what is happening in Goa. But meanwhile, our intention is to ensure that Goans in all Continents will be made aware of the rapid transformation of our homeland from a beautiful international tourist destination, to a dreadful and polluted coal hub.
