The sharp turn existing at Dessai-Bhat area in Adpai-Ponda happens to be a critical location. Neither are there any traffic signboards on either side of the road nor speed-breakers in order to guide vehicular traffic and also exercise control over speeding vehicles. With residential houses and compound walls lying in close proximity to the existing narrow road, mishaps are likely to take place at this sharp turn. On many occasions, two-wheelers and cars are seen over-speeding. Hence adverse consequences are likely to follow suit in case precautionary measures are not introduced. Over the years, the said dangerous turn has not received attention either from the village panchayat of Adpai-Durbhat or the traffic department. Hence neither traffic signboards have been installed thereby indicating the prescribed speed limit nor speed-breakers have been erected on either side of the sharp turn. The local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar too has been proceeding along this sensitive location for last several years on some occasion or the other. Even while inspecting the hot-mixed road a few years back, he too failed to assure any positive action so as to assure safety to travellers. Under such circumstances, precious human lives have been confronted with risk and danger. Nevertheless, it is the need of the hour for the authorities to undertake precautionary measures at the location before any tragedy occurs. Of course, we cannot take precious human lives for granted at any instance. The local MLA should follow up on this matter.
