This refers to 'Vasco shocker: 5-year-old girl raped, murdered' (TGE, April 13). It was disgusting to read the news report of the ghastly rape and murder of the five-year-old on the first page of the newspaper. Indeed, man has lost his sanity; even little children and infants are not spared.
According to the news report, 20 people have been rounded up from the construction site where the incident occurred. However, what good is going to come out of it, one is tempted to ask. What would be the punishment for such horrible crimes?
Oh, punishments have been meted out to convicts in previous crimes in the past. So, has that deterred others from committing such crimes? Unless more severe punishments are meted out, perhaps the laws may have to be amended, and unless that happens, crimes against girls and women will continue.
