Neglect of prestigious library

Neglect of prestigious library

The most prestigious library of South Goa, the Dr. Francisco Louis Gomes library is in an utter state of neglect. Moss covered pavers, mildewed stairways, rusty railings, slippery entrance steps, flaking facade paint, leaky roofs etc...you name it and it’s there.
It is shocking to see that the building which is used by hundreds of students daily is in such a shabby state. The CM who misses no chance to shout from the rooftops about the excellent education system in Goa is silent on the state of libraries in the State, the condition of the Central library at Panaji is no better.
These institutions are enablers of education and literacy and should be maintained well by the education ministry of which CM Sawant is the head, but alas that is not the case. It’s disheartening to see such buildings going to seed, wake up CM Sawant before things get beyond salvage.
