In Delhi, the BJP razed down the home of Muslims without following the due course of law. The SC stayed the demolition. In Goa, we see umpteen cases where hills are ravaged illegally without permission or notice. The JCB contractor does the job based on verbal instructions of a third party who is not the owner. Razed hills cannot be restored to their original state and the JCB owner goes scot-free. We know the new MV Act has imposed heavy fines for traffic violations. Why are we not imposing fines on JCB and earthmoving machinery contractors who undertake jobs on verbal instructions? The fine must be to the tune of Rs 50 lakh. RGP, AAP and new faces, who claim to have the ordinary Goans’ interests in mind, must implement this.
