Scarce land resource, we need to conserve

Goa has witnessed a lot of issues being brought forward in regard to land in recent months. From fraudulent land deals to the government's attempts to open up more land parcels for construction, it seems that a few people from the State have made it their mission to profit from depleting this resource.

Unfortunately, the real victims of this silent crime are ordinary Goans. It is heartbreaking that the Goan land is being sold to some undeserving people from other States because of money. The need of the hour is to make a 15-year Residence Certificate compulsory for buying land in Goa. This will not only lead to inflated land prices to drop, but will also lead to judicious use of real estate instead of outsiders buying holiday homes without a justifiable use case.

Why are Goans made to suffer for the greed of a few? Especially for people from other States who don't understand this land and its values.
