This is with reference to the editorial, "Distribution doesn't equal nutrition - The Goan Everyday October 17, 2022." That was an interesting, eye-opening editorial on the Global Hunger index report where India ranks 107 out of 121 countries. Understandably, India's response has been one of denial, refusal to accept the reality, terming it as dubious and an attempt to defame our country. That may be a point for debate if you wish, but at the end of the day, the fact is that India has failed. Your editorial rightly ends saying, that India is looking at it as an image problem rather than a real problem that needs to be tackled. However, this attitude should not be surprising. Take the sliding rupee for instance. The Finance Minister is refusing to accept the fact that the rupee is falling. On the contrary, she says the rupee is not falling, the dollar is strengthening. What does that mean, is the dollar our currency? So, heads I win, tails, you lose! India needs to understand, refusal to recognise reality for whatever reason, would have disastrous consequences.
