The new recruits who are appointed in banks, government departments and in places that cater to public services need to be trained in mannerisms and ways to deal with the public. Having joined secure jobs, most of them (especially youngsters) think that they now own the world and are unaccountable to the public with whom they have to interact on a daily basis. Many a times the citizens are harried, made to run around from pillar to post, spoken roughly to, the person has half or no knowledge of what the issues the patron is facing, never mentions the procedures to be carried out etc. Even if the employer makes a mistake or gives wrong information they never apologise.
Such ill-mannered workers think that they are doing a favour by helping and attending to the public. All new recruits appointed in the lower cadre need to undergo a month or two of training concerning their nature of work and how to go about the tasks. They need to be trained in dealing with the public, be congenial, address grievances, avoid conflicts and smoothen frayed nerves.
