Opposing development work in Goa will take us back to yesteryears. Take the case of power, Goa does not generate power on it's own and all the power in our homes, shops or industries or street lighting during night time is fed through Central grid into Goa.
There is opposition to the transportation of coal from our MPT to Karnataka or Maharashtra where power plants exist whether run by Tata or Reliance of Adani or Jindal. They not only produce electricity in their plants and supply it to the Central grid for distribution wherever required but also generate jobs.
IIT had studied the pollution effect during coal handling at MPT and transportation and they did not find any adverse pollution. Double tracking shall increase the speed of trains and one can reach faster to destination. We had opposed Konkan Railways during eighties but now our next generation are reaping benefits, be it Goans travelling to Mumbai or Bangalore or tourist coming into Goa improving the economy of Goans.
Every year the number of tourists in Goa is increasing and being as floating population, we need airplanes, trains, ships or buses as mode of transport and power to sustain tourism.
Mining is closed and many Goan families connected with this industry are suffering.
So before opposing projects think of the future.
