Time to junk the hypocrisy

It's been reported that the President of India  has been an extended an invitation to preside over the 59th Goa Liberation Day celebrations, allegedly as the State embarks upon a new chapter to promote Goa cultural heritage on the national and global stage.

The sheer hypocrisy of this claim takes away one's breath. For decades people from all over the world, fed up of the over development, the high rises, the flyovers, and the highways, the dense traffic and the dense population, converged on Goa only because of its tranquillity, simplicity, rustic appeal, the simplicity and the warmth of its people, the unique nature of its villages and the architectures of a heritage homes, the greenery of its environment and the unspoiled beaches and its hinterland.

The tragedy is that the government seems to be  recklessly embarking  on a drive to destroy the very essence of Goa and to convert Goa into another over developed over populated region, which is going to destroy the unique environmental and cultural heritage of the Goan people.

When will the tide change in favour of the poor Goan people?
