The recent imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC in South Goa, aims to restrict the movement of individuals and permit certain activities with restrictions.
This is nothing but an attempt by the government to harass the people and stop the ongoing protests against coal and double tracking in South Goa.
It is quite evident that the BJP is scared of the growing people’s movement against the projects.
Government’s claim that Section 144 of the CrPC has been invoked to tackle the Covid situation in the State is ridiculous as the figures released by the DHS in fact shows a sharp decline in the number of positive cases and deaths too.
The government must understand that it will never be able to cow down Goans who are all out to protect their State. Targetting Goans with these tricks will only backfire and give rise to more protests across the State.
