It is very distressing to pen a few words on our dear departed friend Peter Vaz who unfortunately left us so early in life. After braving the pandemic, he departed on Christmas morning to his Heavenly abode.
Having had the privilege to meet Peter over two decades ago, I have to candidly say that no other first-generation Goan has ever achieved in Goa’s business world what Peter single-handedly has done. He did it from scratch and built such a huge empire by his absolute hard work, determination and belief in himself.
His contribution towards Goan football is enormous and phenomenal. Peter was truly unique. He was a large-hearted soul but had a very firm mind of his own on whoever crossed his path. Love and compassion were always inbuilt in our departed Peter.
Peter built his business empire by his sheer hard work. Those who knew him are witness that the late Peter never relied on a computer or laptop as he possessed a very sharp and always awakened resolute mind while all his designs and drawings were on plain paper and with his pencil. Peter achieved a lot except his hope and dream perhaps to enter the political arena. I am glad our friend Peter did not venture into that now messy arena which has evolved into worse than the flesh trade.
Peter was a flamboyant and gregarious soul. Let us hope that his wife Natty and children Nathan, Danira and Nyra will gather the strength to brave the current loss of such a great Goenkar who has over the years contributed immensely to Goa and Goans.
