The actions of some men in uniform have sullied the image of ‘khaki’ as yet another incident of police brutality was exposed by a worker from Kundai IDC. The victim was assaulted by two constables and even forced to pay Rs 5,000 to one of them. This is a tip of iceberg. There are many reported and unreported cases against the men in khaki but till to date has fallen on deaf ears and I have not seen any serious action taken against the culprits by the police department or the government.
A lack of action against the accused officers in such cases will likely see a repeat of such incidents. Probably, it will also make them commit more bold acts. If no action is taken then the public will completely loose faith in the police and the society will be in chaos resulting in law and order problems
I humbly request the law enforcing agencies and the government to take action against the erring men in khaki or else more public will be assaulted regularly.
