Goans surely are shocked by the horrific accident by a drunk driver at Banastarim, which snuffed out 3 innocent lives and injured some others! Accidents have been reported on practically a daily basis in Goa with fatalities but the Goa government seems to have been least bothered, on addressing this very serious problem on a war footing. For instance in the current ongoing Monsoon Assembly session, was say an "Accident Prevention Bill" for discussion not more important?
Can this unfortunate accident now be a wake up call for the CM and Transport minister to act immediately, so as to significantly reduce fatalities going forward? Why is there a colossal failure of the Goa government to install CCTVs at least on prominent areas on the road network? Was it deliberate that the Goa Police did not conduct the alcoholic measurement test on the woman who many eye witnesses stated was the actual driver of the car? Are there senior Goa ministers involved in protecting the actual offender from facing punishment; as the way the case is being handled by the Goa Police this appears to be so, to me!
