The Goa governments nod to open a restaurant in the precincts of the Aguada jail is not welcome move for the freedom fighters and also public as they say the sanctity of the site is at sake as there were many freedom fighters who shed their blood and were imprisoned in the Aguada jail fighting the Portuguese oppression to attain freedom. Even after the whole of India attained Independence from the British rule, Goa attained Independence 14 years later due to the efforts of freedom fighters of all castes, creed and religion who participated in the fight for liberation. The whole place is done up to showcase the sacrifices of freedom fighters of Goa. Hence the freedom fighters' children are absolutely right in opposing tooth and nail the bar outlet in the courtyard as even the courtyard is sacred for the freedom fighters. The opening of the bar in the courtyard may be the proposal of the liquor companies for advertisement of their products that will give revenue for the government as well the liquor companies that will amass wealth at the expense of a sacred place for the freedom fighters.
