BJP State spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar and Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar while addressing a press conference on Wednesday were both heard blaming Catholic priests/religious leaders for the humiliating defeat of their South Goa parliamentary candidate in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections. Well, for the kind information of the BJP leaders, priests/religious leaders do not name or force their followers to vote for candidates of certain political parties by mixing religion through their sermons but only advise them to vote for some really good candidates of secular parties in Goa. Now, what is wrong in that? And why should we Goan Catholics wait to hear only Sunday sermons of some priests to decide whom to vote for? I therefore personally feel that if the BJP leaders want to show that they are not communal and want to take their 'Sabke Saath Sabka Vikas' really forward in the state then they should stop this madness of blaming priests/religious heads unnecessarily for the loss of their South Goa parliamentary seat candidate to entertain their own die-hard supporters and instead should take moral responsibility for that loss & voluntarily resign in Goa.
