It has come to light that the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is planning to turn Patto area in Panaji into an entertainment zone to provide nightlife to the residents of Panaji. Patto area in Panaji city by any reckoning is a well-planned and laid out commercial centre that occupies the pride of place in the capital city of Panaji , with some resemblance to Mumbai's prestigious Nariman Point. Any plans by the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to turn this area into an entertainment zone will only prove disastrous. We have had enough nightmarish experiences with the Smart City project that has ruined Panaji and turned it into a war- ravaged zone. Panaji also has enough of entertainment places and nightlife for its residents by way of casinos, boat cruises, bars, hotels, dance halls, etc, and therefore there is no need for its residents to go out of the city. Let us not tinker with Patto now and destroy what little is left of Panaji.
