We are deeply shocked with the Kuwait fire tragedy where 42 Indians among 49 dead were reported and around 50 people have been hospitalised. The fire started from the kitchen of Al Mangaf building as the NBTC group rented the building for their employees. Indian labourers are in a large number in the Gulf countries and receive very low salaries. The accommodation where workers are staying is basic without adequate safety measures. India should make an agreement with Gulf countries like the UAE to pay minimum salary of at least AED 1,500. Indians go aboard leaving their family behind for the better future of their children. Our Indians are working hard for their families in hot weather and give good service to the companies they work for. Our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish full recovery to those who have been injured. Indians, Nepalis, Pakistanis and other nationals live and work together in the Gulf countries for the sake of their families. Remember that safety always comes first. There should be fire extinguishers and fire wardens to control any fire during an emergency and proper training should be given to ensure safety.
