Cancer patients travelling on KTC and local buses are being repeatedly asked to produce an “ID card” despite the KTC website clearly stating that a 100 per cent concession is available on presentation of a certificate from Goa Medical College (GMC) or Tata Memorial Hospital. The certificate, as per the Citizen Charter, is the only document required. Being a cancer survivor, I have been forced to explain the rule to bus conductors on multiple trips. Every time I board, the conductor asks for an ID card, which creates stress and delays. The information is already on the KTC site “ the conductors simply aren’t aware. The authorities must issue a public notice “ to be displayed in every KTC and local bus “ stating the concession and the acceptable certificate. All conductors must be briefed on the policy to prevent further inconvenience. Authorities must ensure the Health, Transport, and Chief Minister’s offices monitor compliance. We urge the Government of Goa to act promptly so that cancer patients can travel with dignity and without unnecessary hassle.
