During the comunidade convention held at Dona Paula, stakeholders opposed the government’s move to regularise the houses on comunidade land. It is learnt that the state government will soon review the decisions taken at the comunidade convention and take a call on regularisation of houses existing on comunidade land. In recent times, Comunidade land started getting misused by the very persons who were to be custodians of the land, acting on behalf of and for the benefit of all gaunkars. The High Court of Bombay at Goa ordered that no construction or sale of land will be permitted in the over two lakh square metres land of the Comunidade of Anjuna, which is alleged to be taken over by land grabbers by manipulating old Portuguese documents. Two separate writ petitions were filed by Miguel Vas and Arvind Shirodkar regarding land transfers in Serula Comunidade based on forged documents. Both the petitioners had stated that the North Goa Administrator of Comunidade had failed to consider the objections even though representations were filed against the illegal land transfer mostly with regard to Comunidade lands and land grabbing by way of forged documents.
