Cong high command must act quickly

It was an overwhelming and a robust victory wherein Congress swept the Karnataka polls with a thumping majority. All eyes will now be on the CM candidate. Frontrunners for the top post are ex-CM Siddaramaiah and State Congress president  D K Shivkumar -- both being  ably charismatic result oriented-proven leaders.

The Congress leadership has a delicate balance to strike in selecting the right candidate for the top job inorder to contain sentiments and resentment of different sections of the hierarchy and party workers.

The party still banks on the original ideals of Gandhian /Nehruvian era politics to navigate through this modern day policies which has been put through harsh grinds of practicality.

The challenges are great as the State has to grapple with economic development, infrastructure, modernisation of dilapidated roads, up keep of transportation facilities, markets, helping minorities to overcome adverse conditions, deal with various religious factions etc.

The new CM will have an extensive and challenging job on his hands, whilst balancing and dealing with day to day affairs.

The Congress high command needs to get its act together and act quickly.
