The Congress made a stunning comeback in Karnataka by defeating the ruling BJP convincingly.
In the process the Congress party secured more than double the number of seats secured by its rival BJP.
The win for Congress is significant in many ways. Firstly, Karnataka was the only South Indian state controlled by the BJP. Secondly, it has shown that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not invincible and can be defeated convincingly. Thirdly, the Congress party fought the election with 'love not hate'.
This policy can pay rich dividends to the party at the national level in 2024.
