BJP has already announced Shripad Naik as its candidate for the North Goa seat and Pallavi Dempo for the South Goa parliamentary seat.
Unfortunately, Congress leaders are still struggling to name their own two best strong candidates to fight BJP.
Congress leaders will find it very difficult to search for a good candidate in North Goa to fight sitting MP Shripad Naik but at least they should have named their candidate for the South Goa parliamentary seat by now.
The best bet for the South Goa seat in particular would be again the sitting MP Francisco Sardinha as he has a proven track record of having won the seat four times with the support of both the majority and the minority community in Goa.
Unfortunately, some Congress leaders are working behind the scenes to gift this prestigious seat to the BJP by pushing for Girish Chodankar as the candidate.
Hope some sense is knocked into the central leadership of the Congress The grand old party needs to get its act together before it is too late.
