Congress set for another poor show this election

High profile emissaries of Congress are making a futile attempt to revive electoral fortunes of the party but are losing the support and trust of voters as they had taken them for granted for too long.

The desertion by ten MLAs, then Luizinho Faleiro and earlier Vishwajit Rane and Mauvin Godinho have put the last nail in the coffin of Congress aspirations for revival and rejuvenation.

More desertions were in store, but the timely intervention by high command managed to stop Reginaldo from leaving the camp. Other party workers and emerging leaders too are jumping the sinking ship.

All legislators were men of integrity until selfish interest and hunger for power made them coin the word ‘development’.

Voters opine that most new aspirants cannot be trusted for their loyalty to party or principles.

Even if Congress manages to get a majority in the ensuing elections, the same story will unfold like that of the last time. Egos and infighting among legislators for position will once again be the bane of Congress.

With AAP and TMC rearing to put up a solid performance, it is anyone’s guess what the fate of Congress will be. The grand old party is in for a rude shock of their hanging on to their glorious existence of the past. The writing is on the wall.
