Kannada cinema’s star and celebrity television host 46-year-old Puneeth Rajkumar died on Friday of a massive heart attack. Puneeth who was known as a fitness enthusiast was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain following a two-hour workout in the gym.
In September Big Boss 13 winner, actor and model 40-year-od Sidharth Shukla died of a heart attack. Global medical reports highlight a surge in heart attacks among people in their 30s and 40s due to an unhealthy diet or lifestyle.
Risk factors such as high blood pressure, family history, diabetes and poor cholesterol levels are the same among the old and the young.
The causes, as per cardiologists, range from genetic to lifestyle related. Other causes can include high mental stress levels, consumption of energy drinks, alcohol, or tobacco, sleep deprivation and irregular sleeping patterns.
According to medical experts, many survivors of Covid-19, particularly those who have recovered from severe illness, will be at risk of chronic heart failure.
The virus can cause acute myocardial injury and chronic damage to the cardiovascular system. Those who have not been able to visit the gym during the lockdown due to the pandemic, could be over enthusiastic in their exercise regimen as the gyms have opened.
They could be spending more time on their workout and in the process putting extra stress on the heart which could trigger a heart attack.
Fitness enthusiasts, who have suffered even from asymptomatic Covid-19 infection, need to take it easy during their workout in the gym in order to avoid a possible heart attack.
