With election fever picking up, politics is taking a religious turn. Yes, politicians divide us during election time in the name of religion, so that after dividing us they can rule.
During TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Goa a few BJP activists shouted Jai Shree Ram and waved black flags.
The situation near the road in Dabolim threatened to go out of control and despite police presence protesters were seen running to block Mamata’s convoy.
This was never a culture of Goa and Goans. Election should be free and fair and one has to accept the result whatever it may be.
It is true that the TMC is set to pump crores of rupees during the elections, but religious intolerance should not find a place in Goa.
Why there is so much hate, jealousy and anger among Goans of late? Is it because someone is stoking this religious fire in our peace-loving state?
This can only be attributed to the present government who it seems is sacred of its popularity being on the decline with the recent utterances by former Goa governor Satyapal Malik saying the BJP government was corrupt.
Hope the Goa government plays fair politics in the upcoming election and not destroy the image of Goa and Goans.
