Verna is fortunate to be one of the first villages to have an underground electrical cabling system in place since the last many years but the junction boxes are left open inviting mischief by unscrupulous elements who can cause sabotage besides getting exposed to the vagaries of the weather causing short circuits and becoming a safety hazard.
On complaining to the dept the standard casual reply is "the locks are broken".
If the department or the contractor uses substandard material as is the case with all government agencies this is bound to happen so the only alternative is to replace or modify the boxes with standard quality ones so that only authorised personnel can open and attend to the faults.
This is a common problem all over and the department needs to act on a war footing before any mishap takes place.
