Controversial & degrading advertisement

Delhi builders are making inroads into Goa by putting up mega swanky housing projects. The onus of such huge projects lies on the authorities approving them without considering the pros and cons of the underlying infrastructure before sanctioning them. This is happening at the cost of environmental issues and the availability of resources like water, electricity, sewage facilities, roads, parking spaces, etc., which are of paramount importance. This will lead to the careless displacement of the local native population, bringing in people from other states to dwell and mix, which is unhealthy.

The authorities promptly ordered the removal of the highly controversial and degrading advertisement, ‘Delhi, Rulers of India, now conquer Goa’, which in itself is insulting to Goans. The conquest of Goa at the cost of usurping its land for commercial use is unspeakable, to say the least. Moreover, portraying Goa in a poor light through an advertisement cannot and will not be tolerated at all costs. Population explosion will be irreversible, and time will tell when the natives will be totally outnumbered by hordes of people from other states.

Furthermore, the prices of land, flats, and villas are skyrocketing, beyond the aspirations and dreams of the local population. Authorities need to take a comprehensive relook at permissions granted in the past and restrict the influx of outsiders to control the mushrooming of concrete jungles conquering Goa. People should be wary of land-guzzling sharks who might use every trick to strip you of your precious land. Banning mega projects should be made the norm, and no permission should be granted beyond a standard floor built-up area. Instead, old, dilapidated, and redundant structures must be demolished, and new ones constructed in their place.
