On Sunday Corlim panchayat gram sabha was held and during the discussion the Sarpanch proposed contruction of panchayat Ghar with (CSR) Corporate Social Responsibility funds of the companies existing in the vicinity of the panchayat jurisdiction. I was surprised with this decision, as the secretary who was presiding over the meeting said that panchayat has a reserve fund of Rs 2 crore 70 lakh and the approximate amount required to construct the panchayat ghar is Rs 2 crore. Then why the panchayat doesn't want to utilize the existing fund with the panchayat as depending on the CSR fund of the companies is absolutely wrong. There is another burning issue which are the multi housing projects. These projects which are mushrooming for the last few years are getting 24 hours water supply since day one but villagers get 1 hour water supply for 365 days. If the panchayat doesn't take cognizance of the water problem and put forth a proposal to the PWD to build a higher capacity tank or a direct pipeline for distribution to the villagers the situation could go out of control.
