Goa registered 10 fresh Covid cases on Saturday taking the active cases of the virus to 32, as of now all patients have opted for home isolation. The 10 cases were detected out of 222 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours. The Covid sub variant JN1, a highly transmissible strain has taken root in Goa with 19 people being afflicted, in light of this it is very surprising that only 222 tests have been conducted. The government should ramp up testing on a mass scale to prevent another outbreak from swamping the state. The Christmas-New Year tourist season is upon us and Goa will play host to @ 90 lakh visitors from other states and abroad ; who knows how many of them would be infected and in turn infect other people around them. The health department needs to wake up from it's slumber and become proactive , the 'bhivpachi garaz na' approach just won't cut it. We all know what happened the last time over.
